Weekly News Update
September 14, 2006

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

On September 9th, we welcomed 700 children and 250 volunteers for a morning of "Fantasy, Folklore, and Fairy Tales."  Thanks to all of the volunteers who worked so hard to make this a successful morning.  A special thanks to all of the musicians who made our "Peter and the Wolf" performances possible!

Click here to sign up for our October 14th Reading Clubs!  Our theme is "Halloween and Magic" and our books include "The Bumpy Little Pumpkin" by Margery Cuyler in First Grade and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K. Rowling in Fifth Grade!

2006 ANNUAL FUND DRIVE
"YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN!"

Reading to Kids kicked off our
2006 Annual Fund Drive at the September Reading Clubs! From now until November 11, you will have the opportunity to help us make great strides in inspiring underserved children with a love of reading by making your own donation to Reading to Kids.

The theme of this year's fund drive is "You Make It Happen."  And you do!  You are the ones who come each month, read to the kids, and help them learn to love reading.  Reading to Kids could not operate without its volunteers.

By making a donation, and by asking friends or family members to make a donation, you will help Reading to Kids remain a vital presence in these kids' lives.  Last year, our volunteers helped to bring in nearly $25,000 from 398 donors. This year, our goal is to raise $30,000 from 500 donors.

We're not asking for huge donations -- just what you want to give and can afford. Any amount helps!

$10    Purchases up to 8 prize books

$25    Purchases up to 21 prize books

$50    Purchases up to 4 hardcover read aloud
books to be donated to the school library

$100  Purchases up to 87 prize books

Please consider participating in our Annual Fund Drive and helping this organization grow.  To join your fellow volunteers in donating to Reading to Kids, please click here.
