Big Sunday!
On Sunday, May 15th more than 6,000 volunteers from different socio-economic, racial and religious communities in Los Angeles will be coming together to lend their time and talents to an event known as Big Sunday. Sorry for the late notice about the event -- we only just found out about it! Magnolia Elementary and Noble Elementary are hosting Big Sunday events this year.
Magnolia will be hosting an Art Fair from 1:00-4:00 p.m, where the kids and volunteers will be making flower pots, decorating banners, making cards and bookmarks, and making gifts for people living with Alzheimer's Disease. There will be lots of food, a teacher DJ, and an appearance by the Magnolia mariachi band!
From 8:00-noon at Noble, folks will be celebrating science and service by painting a new mural at the school, enjoying a visit from some mad scientists, and hosting a car wash with the proceeds going to No Limits, a theatre group for hearing-impaired children. There will also be art projects, games, a moonbounce, and more!
If these events sound like fun and you've got a couple of hours on Sunday, join your favorite elementary school for Big Sunday. To volunteer at Magnolia, call Marcela Ramirez at (213) 748-6281. To volunteer at Noble, call Liat Broome at (818) 920-1203.
Hope you can make it!
Yours,
