The September Reading Clubs were a hit!
Last weekend, we welcomed more than 600 children and 222 volunteers for a morning of "Fantasy, Folklore, and Fairy Tales." Thanks to all of the volunteers who worked so hard to make this a successful morning, in particular our wonderful Site Coordinators, who work tirelessly to ensure the Reading Clubs are fun and well-organized!

Annual Fund Drive Successes!
We tallied your donations from the Reading Clubs -- our volunteers raised more than $1,600 on Saturday in more than 30 donations, with Gratts Elementary leading the pack at $685 in donations! Volunteers at Esperanza raised $530, at Noble they raised $225, and at Magnolia they raised $186.

In September, we welcomed a group of Disney VoluntEARS, who donated an estimated 350 new, supply-filled backpacks and hundreds more goodie bags to our participants. Disney employees at the studio had spent the latter part of the summer collecting and stocking nearly 1,000 backpacks for donation to local non-profit children's agencies. We are so pleased that our kids were able to benefit from this great Disney project!

And, after the Reading Clubs, El Cholo restaurant welcomed our downtown volunteers with appetizers on the house -- and even kicked in an extra appetizer platter for our hungry volunteers!
