Like our participating schools, Reading to Kids is a year-round program, continuing the Reading Clubs right through the summer. Our amazing college student volunteers, however, often leave L.A. after school's out, which means the summer always finds us with lower-than-average RSVPs.

To address this annual ebb, we're launching our first Annual Recruitment Drive! From now until the June Reading Clubs, it's going to be a push for new recruits; we're asking every active volunteer to recruit at least one friend to fill out an online application and volunteer with us -- that doesn't sound like too much, does it?

Just forward this e-mail to friends and family, and ask all new applicants to enter your name in their volunteer application when asked how they learned about Reading to Kids. The volunteer who recruits the most new applicants will win a free R2K t-shirt and free entry for two to The Highlands Nightclub in Hollywood!

So, get your roommate, office-mate, life-mate or your Uncle Jim to volunteer with you this summer (or bring your dad for Father's Day!) -- help us make the first Annual Recruitment Drive a success!

There are fewer than two weeks before the Reading to Kids Fifth Birthday Bash at El Cholo Restaurant, and we'd love to get a big group together to celebrate!
