Please help Reading to Kids start off the New Year with a bang! Come to this
Saturday, January 10th's Reading Clubs -- sign up by
clicking here!
Due to the winter holiday break (is it over already?) and the college and
university winter breaks, we are running low on volunteers for the year's first
Reading Clubs -- please come out for a fun-filled day this Saturday!
Books and Crafts!
We've got a great selection of books for these diversity-themed
clubs. For a list of teacher-selected books with links to craft ideas from our
Curriculum Committee, please

R2K Community
Did you know that 98% of our participating children (at all schools!)
are Hispanic, and that 84% are English language learners? Further, 91%
are from low-income households.
For these reasons, R2K Reading Clubs make a
"tremendous, tremendous difference in these kids" according to Juan Gonzalez,
Assistant Principal extraordinaire at Esperanza Elementary. He told me this
afternoon that just knowing people in the community care about them and their
education makes a big difference to the children at his school, who are "so
grateful".
Contribute to the health and life of your community: come and join us on
Saturday!
All the best for 2004!
