The Reading to Kids Silent Auction Is a Success!
On March 10, 2003, Reading to Kids hosted a
special event, "Spring for R2K at the El Dorado." The centerpiece of the
evening was a silent auction, with over $4000 in
proceeds benefiting Reading to Kids.
The silent auction was the first public fundraising event held by
our organization since we officially became a nonprofit in September 1999.
Reading to Kids would like to thank
many people: our donors who provided us with many wonderful items to
auction off, the El Dorado Cantina in Brentwood which hosted us and provided
some appetizers, DJ
Headfridge who provided us with music for the event, our many volunteers
who provided valuable assistance before and during the event, and our
planning committee, headed by Heidi Pickman, who spent many long hours
making sure that the event would run smoothly and successfully.

Thanks to everyone for supporting our continuing efforts to inspire a love
of reading in children.
