A New Record for Volunteer Turnout!
Thanks to all of you who helped at the February Reading Clubs,
where the theme of the month was "Friends."
Between the two schools, we had 185 volunteers (that's a new
record!)
and a great turnout of 374 enthusiastic kids! Bolstering the volunteer ranks
were members of several groups new to Reading to Kids, including
the University of Michigan Alumni
Club of Los Angeles,
UC Irvine Kappa Zeta Phi,
USC Language Academy, and
LMU Rotaract. CSUN's Alpha Xi Delta has come on board to volunteer with
us at Gratts in March, so get your RSVPs in early to secure yourself a
spot at the next reading clubs on Saturday, March 9!
Thanks for the Office Equipment Donations
Our office printer broke last week, and we were in desperate need of a new one.
Marti Mossawir of the Candle Foundation responded to our
office wish list
plea and donated a Xerox printer/copier. And Kimberly Yang, who got wind
of our office needs through the volunteer organization
doingsomething donated a scanner. Thank you so much for your generous
donations!
Youth, INC Celebration is Ten Days Away!
The "Celebration
to Benefit Los Angeles Kids" is just around the corner (March 4).
If you are interested in attending or donating, please fax or mail your pledge
form to the Youth INC folks.
