Thanks to Those Who Attended the January Reading Clubs!
A big turnout at both schools this month (280 at Magnolia
and 153 at Gratts) pushed our total to 433 students in January--a
new record!!! To put that in perspective, 1851 students
attend Magnolia and 978 attend Gratts (both "on track" and
"off track" at the year-round schools). So roughly 15% of
the students from Gratts and Magnolia voluntarily chose to
come back to school last Saturday morning to attend the
reading clubs. Thanks to the encouragement of their
parents and the enthusiasm of our fantastic volunteers
and teachers (165 volunteers and 12 teachers this month),
we continue to set records for the number of students who
attend our reading clubs.

College Internships
We're proud to announce a second
intern joining the Reading to Kids team
this month. Katie Hall (USC) will be joining our Program Director Monica
Livingston once a week at the office to help out. Katie joins veteran Erin
Marshel (USC) who is entering her second semester with us.
Congratulations to Monica!
Some of you may have noticed in the last paragraph how we referred to Monica
as our "Program Director." That's right. Effective immediately, Monica has
been promoted from Program Coordinator to Program Director. This promotion
reflects the great job that she has done since she started with us last
summer.
Donations for the Office
If you have anything you would like to donate to the
office, please feel free to
