Halloween Haunt at October Reading Clubs!!!
Halloween came early for the children of Gratts Elementary and
Esperanza Elementary as Reading to Kids' October 14 reading clubs
incorporated a special Halloween theme. Over 350 children were
treated to stories of werewolves, green monsters, ghosts, and vampires.
Although spooky at first, luckily the books all turned out well for
the good guys! At the end of the day, the children at both schools could
be seen carrying dazzling Halloween related artwork created at the reading
clubs--from decorative Halloween masks to pictures of haunted houses.
Each child also received a book of their very own for participating in
the reading clubs and sixty brand new Halloween themed books were donated
to the school libraries.
Making the hugely successful day possible were 100 volunteer readers
joined by teachers and administrators at the two schools. What's next??
A special Thanksgiving theme in November!!!
