New Student Attendance Record Set Again at January Reading Club!!!
Reading to Kids' January 8th Reading Club at
Gratts Elementary School set a new student attendance record
as 140 children from Kindergarten through 5th grade participated.
Students participating in the Reading Club were treated to stories
focusing on January's special theme of "diversity." Books such as
"A Bad Case of Stripes" and "The Spotty Pig" provided important
lessons about accepting others in a diverse world. Smiles reigned
supreme as each of the children received a book of their very own
as a reward for attending January's important event.
A dedicated group of volunteers, teachers, and
administrators made the tremendous success of January's reading
club possible. Helping out at the event were 56 volunteers,
6 teachers, and 2 school administrators. AmeriCorps'
"Tell Me A Story" program and LA Works made particularly
strong showings by contributing almost 30 volunteers combined.
The future of Reading to Kids and the promotion
of literacy continues to be very bright. Be prepared for continued
growth and success!!!
