Last month, 216 volunteers read to 613 kids!

Santa brought lots of smiles (and free
books!) to the December reading clubs.

In December, we gave away hundreds of prizes including four computers and scores
of new, hardcover books to attendees.
Several volunteers were pleased to see kids choose books over toys and
stuffed animals when they were offered a choice of prizes -- we've got a bunch
of eager readers on our hands!
THANKS TO OUR SANTAS!
Special thanks are due to our four volunteer Santas: Isaac Pearson, Joel
Aguilar, Rob Humphrey, and Dave McKibben, who volunteered their time and their
ho-ho-ho's to the delight of our attendees.
And, many thanks to the three
generous costume shops that donated the use of elf and Santa costumes to our
clubs: Gilbert Costumes, Palace Costumes, and Halloween Castle.
And, finally, thanks to the scores of volunteers who donated prizes and books for the raffles. We had a blast!
JANUARY READING CLUBS!
The first 2004 Reading Clubs will feature a "Diversity" theme, and
the books for the January clubs are sure to enrich and inspire
adults and kids alike.
Some of our teacher-selected books this month include the classic
Black
Is Brown Is Tan and a critically acclaimed book from author Luis Rodriguez,
America Is Her
Name.
Look for more information on January books and crafts in the coming weeks!
Thank you so much for all your hard work for Reading to Kids!
