Thanksgiving Theme A Big Hit at November Reading Club!!!
The spirit of Thanksgiving came early to the children of
Gratts Elementary School at the November 13 Reading Club. Each book read
to the children incorporated a fun Thanksgiving theme--grandmothers ate
too much pie; turkeys got rescued from the dinner table; and families
shared special dinners together. The Thanksgiving theme also got
incorporated into special arts and crafts as the children drew pictures
of turkeys and pumpkin pies and made Thanksgiving hats that they were
able to take home. A new attendance record was set once again as 130
kids participated in the reading fun!
A very motivated force of 57 volunteers, 6 teachers and
administrators, and 41 parents helped to make the day a huge success.
Making a particularly strong showing were the Bruin Belles of UCLA who
helped to organize a large number of volunteers. The huge success of
the November reading club is creating a lot of excitement for the
upcoming December reading club - be prepared for a special holiday theme!!!
