USC Delta Phi Kappa

Reading to Kids thanks the members of USC Delta Phi Kappa who volunteer at our reading clubs.

"Delta Phi Kappa is one of the oldest Asian American sororities in Southern California. Our sorority was founded in the spring of 1960, when eleven women from the University of Southern California responded to the growing need to foster sisterhood among Asian American women. With the help of the Counselor of Women's Organizations, Ms. Shirley Barkley and sponsor Mrs. Theodore Chen, these eleven charter members drew up the sorority constitution which was officially approved on May 6, 1960. On June 10, 1960, the eleven young women were formally presented as the Delta Phi Kappa sorority. With only one charter solely at the University of Southern California, all Delta alumni are forever embraced within the Trojan family."
