Last updated Monday, March 25, 2002

Author: Marjorie Priceman
Illustrator:
Date of Publication:
ISBN:
Grade Level: 5th
Date(s) Used: Jun. 2000

Synopsis: In her journal, Clio the cat (now in her ninth life) describes how, in her previous eight lives, she identified constellations in ancient Mesopotamia, sailed with the Vikings to America, and invented the parachute in 1795 France.

Craft ideas:

  • What period of history are you studying now (recently?) Do a journal entry for Clio in that time period, with illustrations.
  • Write an entry in your diary of you in some time period from long ago. Who are you? what did you invent? why?
  • In life #4, there are words written in another language. The key is in the back of the book. What do the words say? Write messages to each other using this new (old?) language.
