Illustrator: Tony Ross
Date of Publication: 2002
ISBN: 0805069976
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Date(s) Used: Mar. 2003

Synopsis: (from the publisher) From the window of a high-rise city apartment, a little girl imagines a very different view and dreams of a very different life, but does it have to be just a dream?

Craft ideas:

  • Make the kids cowboy/girl hats and have them decorate.
  • Bring cotton balls, and have them make cloud designs. If cotton balls are not available, use construction paper.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don’t have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
