Synopsis: It's wintertime again, and Jamaica has to wear her brother Ossie's hand-me-down boots. She finds herself envious of her friend Brianna's pink boots with the fuzzy cuffs, and Brianna teases her about her ugly, old "boy" boots. But one word brings reconciliation for the two friends.

Discussion topics: To be posted soon ...

Craft ideas:
•  Have you ever felt jealous, or insecure? when? Draw a picture.
•  Draw a picture of Brianna's head and Jamaica's head, and put their thoughts inside of them.
•  What was Brianna thinking when she saw Jamaica's new boots? What could she have said? Draw/write a different version of the story.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
