Discussion topics for before reading:
•  Do you know other books by Dr. Seuss?
•  Do you know what a fantasy is?
•  Do you day dream?
•  What kinds of things do you dream about?

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  What is a “Guff”? Describe one.
•  Have you ever seen a “Guff”?
•  Are the animals in the book real? Have you even seen animals these colors?
•  Are your dreams in color or black and white?

Craft ideas:
•  Draw a picture from your dream. You can try to use different colors for the animals or flowers, if you want.
•  Draw a Guff, a Snuv or a Bloog.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
