Synopsis: During a bedtime game, every time Little Nutbrown Hare demonstrates how much he loves his father, Big Nutbrown Hare gently shows him that the love is returned even more.

Discussion topics for before reading:
•  Do a picture walk - what do you think this book is about.
•  How high can you reach? How far can you hop?

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  How much does the big nutbrown hare love the little nutbrown hare?
•  Act out the actions of the book as you go through.
•  Have the children point out the colors and the animals that they see.
•  How many trees, stars, etc. do you see?

Craft ideas:
•  Work with the children to complete this sentence ?I love you (as far as ...) or (as much as....), and write it at the top of the page. Then have them illustrate that sentence.
•  Cut out a big bunny and have the children color and decorate it.

Special activities:
•  Have an olympics - who can jump the highest, who can stretch the farthest, who can crunch into the smallest ball, take the smallest steps, and make medals.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
