Synopsis: Once upon a time, there were three hungry Dinosaurs: Papa Dinosaur, Mama Dinosaur, and a Dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway. One day—for no particular reason—they decided to tidy up their house, make the beds, and prepare pudding of varying temperatures. And then—for no particular reason—they decided to go out for a while. They were definitely not setting a trap for some succulent, unsupervised little girl. Definitely not!

Note to readers:
•  Review Goldilocks and the Three Bears story.

Discussion topics for before reading:
•  Do you know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears? (kids and/or volunteers can talk about the story)
•  Why do you think this story has dinosaurs instead of bears?
•  What do you know about dinosaurs?

Vocabulary

•  succulent - (of food) tender, juicy, and tasty
•  Norway/Norwegian - a mountainous European country on the northern and western coastline of Scandinavia, on the Norwegian Sea and the Arctic Ocean; population 5,200,000 (estimated 2015); capital, Oslo; language, Norwegian (official).Norwegian name Norge.
•  bonbon - a piece of candy, especially one covered with chocolate
•  traipsing - walk about casually or needlessly

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  Was it a good idea for Goldilocks to go into the house?
•  Do you think the dinosaurs knew she was coming? Why?
•  What did the dinosaurs do to set a trap?
•  What did the dinosaurs sound like? (wind, truck, plane...)

Craft ideas:
•  Make cut out dinosaurs. Trace your hand & cut out (volunteers can help cut shapes before or during craft time). Turn upside down so the fingers will be legs, thumb will be neck & head. Add triangles for spikes, teeth and draw a face.
•  Make a Mother's Day card (for mother, aunt, grandmother, someone who is like a mother to you.)

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
