Synopsis: "Dear Children of the Earth" begins a remarkable letter from Mother Earth asking for help from children everywhere. She writes to express her love for each and every child and asks for their love and appreciation in return. In her own words, and with all of her heart, Mother Earth enfolds children with love and entrusts them with her protection. Hers is a message for today and forever.

Discussion topics: To be posted soon ...

Craft ideas:
•  Brainstorm as a group to compile a list of ways to preserve the Earth, e.g. conserve energy, recycle, etc. Draw a small "Save the Earth" poster featuring one or more of these ideas.
•  Write a letter back to Earth, tell her about you, what you like to do, and the ideas you have to preserve the Earth.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
