•  Discuss/explain the Nobel Peace Prize.

•  Why is education important?

•  defiant- adj. showing no respect for authority; refusing to obey.
•  rubble- n. pieces of broken rock, brick, or other material.
•  blog- n. shortened from "Web log," an online journal that may be personal or topical, in which the author makes regular entries
•  sanitation- n. the practice of keeping the public healthy by providing clean living conditions.

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  What was Malala's father's occupation?
•  How did she feel about school?
•  Do you like the idea of separate schools for girls and boys? Why or why not?
